2.1 Compo overview

Title: TetriNET

Compo description: Play until the other player can’t place any blocks anymore.

Compo sign-up: till Saturday 13h45

Compo start: Saturday 14h00

Compo end: Sunday 14h00

Max Players: 64

Winners:

1st place (=final winner)

2nd place (=final loser)

3th place (=winner of an extra duel between the losers of the semi-final)

Compo Structure: Duel (1vs1) in double elimination brackets. Play every match in upper and lower bracket as best of 1 (one). Semi-finals are played as best of 3 (three). The grand final and the extra duel between the losers of the semi-final are played best of 5 (five).

 

2.2 How to start and play a game

Matches will be played on the pc’s of the participants of the competition.

Disable Windows Firewall for TetriNET (tetrinet.exe). Add an exception or disable the entire firewall for network play. This is the most common reason a host and the opponent are unable to join a game.

 

1 of the participants will host the server: click on “Server Settings”, fill in your nickname, check the specified compo settings (see below) and click on “Start Server”. Give your IP-address to your opponent.

 

The other player has enter this IP-address of the host and his own nickname by clicking the menu “Client Settings”.

 

The host can start the game in “Partyline” by clicking on “Start New Game” and then both click on “Show Fields”. You can chat with the other player in the “Partyline” before and after the game.

You can also chat during a match by pressing the “T” button on your keyboard and ENTER for send.

 

The match starts immediately when the host clicks “Start New Game”. The game is over when a player's field is completely filled with blocks which leaves the other player the last one standing.

 

Use your special blocks on yourself or the other player by pressing the corresponding number on the row of numeric buttons on top of your keyboard (mostly 1 or 2). The active special block in the red box will be used first. A block can also be discarded by pressing the “D” button.
